We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced social work professional to join our team as an Assistant Professor of Social Work (BSW and MSW Field Director) at Fort Hays State University. This is a nine-month tenure track position that offers a unique opportunity to teach, mentor, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students and the community.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the Social Work programs, serving as the BSW and MSW Field Director, and engaging in scholarly activities. The position requires a strong commitment to diversity, culturally competent education, and working with rural communities. Key Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in the Social Work programs, including undergraduate and graduate levels
- Serve as the BSW and MSW Field Director, with a minimum of 75% release time for field responsibilities
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research and publication
- Provide services to the community, the profession, the department, the college, and the university
- Mentor and advise students, including those from underrepresented groups
Requirements:
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
- At least two years of post-MSW social work practice experience
- Commitment to diversity, culturally competent education, and working with rural communities
- Ability to relocate to Hays, Kansas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Social Work or a related field
- Teaching experience at a four-year institution of higher education
- Experience teaching in a CSWE-accredited program and online teaching experience
- Knowledge of social work practice in Kansas and experience with CSWE accreditation
