Position Summary/Objective:
The Associate Sales Training Specialist supports the Sales Training Manager in creating, maintaining, and deploying training programs and learning content. This role assists in reviewing and updating existing content and curricula, organizing, and distributing learning materials, and supporting the Training Manager and product managers in developing new learning tools.
The Associate Sales Training Specialist is an on-site role located in San Jose, CA.
Approximately 10% travel, including overnight, is required.
Pay Range: $30 – $40/hr
Essential Functions:
• Maintains training resources including intranet content, video libraries, learning management system and other tools to meet the current and emerging needs of the direct field sales teams.
• Supports the development of program content, agendas, and logistics of in person and on-line training programs including new hire sales training and annual sales meetings.
• Collaborates with product management team to edit and curate training materials, and activities that enhance the learning process, including study guides, frequently asked questions, competitive overviews, etc.
• Develops and maintains general knowledge of science and technology relevant to products, sales and marketing, and customers.
• Develops and maintains knowledge of state-of-the-art adult learning principles, theories, and the practical methods used in career-oriented training and professional development in the life science industry (academic, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and similar).
• Establishes productive relationships with coworkers, customers, affiliates, and partners to accomplish team objectives.
• Supports reporting and documentation processes related to learning metrics.
• Clearly communicates technical details with colleagues and customers. Recognizes problems and suggests new approaches to solve them.
• This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education/Certification, Experience, and Competencies:
• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biotechnology or related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without any experience; or equivalent work experience, including some knowledge of molecular biology techniques.
• Certification or degree in instructional design, adult education or related field, or combination of relevant education and applicable job experience is desired.
• Experience in customer-facing roles such as sales, customer service, technical service or teaching roles such as online or in-person classroom leadership is desirable.
• Experience in capturing, editing, and maintaining online video content is highly desirable.
• The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, be well organized and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
• Solid MS Office knowledge and experience required.
