Certified Medical Assistant – Gastroenterology

About the position

Responsibilities
• Accurately prepares and performs point of care testing such as urine dipstick and blood glucose.
• Perform clinical intake including vital signs, medical history, surgical history, social history, and verification of patient’s current medications.
• Transcribes and enters written orders in patient electronic medical record.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by provider, ensuring adherence to the ‘6 Rights’ of Medication Administration.
• Assist in stocking and ordering of supplies and maintenance of equipment, coordinating with the site manager.
• Prepare patients for examination and have pre-work available for the provider, including notes and diagnostic test results.
• Track and communicate lab and diagnostic study results to patients as directed by the provider.
• Follow safety processes and policies, including infection prevention procedures and maintaining a clean environment.
• Maintain patient flow after check-in and discuss urgency with the physician.
• Provide coverage in other areas of the medical group or office as needed, including patient registration and appointment scheduling.
• Answer internal and external customer phone calls and direct messages appropriately.

Requirements
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card.
• Ability to pass colorblind testing for POC tests requiring color change.
• Strong customer service skills and knowledge of service recovery techniques.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and keyboarding skills.
