Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elementary Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team at DuPage Regional Office of Education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs to achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives. This is a part-time position with immediate openings available, offering a competitive salary of $16.00/hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists
- Assist students with activities to maximize participation in learning and achievement of IEP objectives
- Administer curriculum-based tests/quizzes and record student assignments and progress
- Provide physical care and support as needed, including assisting with daily living skills
- Observe, document, and reinforce appropriate student behaviors
- Participate in weekly team meetings to review student progress and plan upcoming lessons
- Assist with non-instructional activities and maintain a safe and orderly school environment
Requirements:
- Valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License, or Professional Educator License
- Experience working with special education students preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Basic arithmetic skills and proficiency in using personal computers and software applications
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and maintain confidentiality
- Physical ability to lift students and perform other manipulations as needed
