They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, investigating and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guest. The role of a Field Investigator can provide you with the:  Experience managing the identification and resolution of internal investigations  Skills in external and internal investigations (identification, investigation and resolution)  Skills using mobile, stationary and physical surveillance, and intelligence-led tactics to aid in the reduction of shortage; including TargetÂs video surveillance system  Knowledge of criminal prosecution practices and expectations As a Field Investigator no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities: Drive your business to grow sales  Ensure the protection of Target team members, physical assets and corporate facilities  and increase profitability by resolving theft and reducing shortage  Support a theft and shortage prevention and resolution culture to ensure product is in stock and available for our guests  Lead and close complex market or regional theft cases including Organized Retail Crime (ORC), fraud, brand and reputational issues  Develop and investigate major organized external and internal cases which may result in a significant loss to Target. Use methods of prevention, detection, investigation, resolution, and recovery  Lead cases that require specialized investigative tactics and all internal investigations that involve store management and AP cases Cultivate a guest-centric salesforce to drive sales and efficiency  Build partnerships with industry organizations and benchmark the competition for trends and initiatives that are impacting the industry  Support and consult business partners on external investigations and store-level internal investigations, as needed. Provide hands on training of investigative tactics and coach and train field and store leaders on investigative interview tactics  Develop positive relationship with law enforcement agencies. Conduct major case operations, and act as liaison with law enforcement and retail industry  Partner with law enforcement, HQ, field and GSCL AP teams to aggregate applicable investigations charges. Ensure all prosecution/referral of local theft and fraud investigations are completed to the highest possible level and when necessary, represent Target in court and legal proceedings  Identify all aspects of emerging theft opportunities, trends and cases within your market using reporting, trend analysis, and internal and external partners to initiate and investigate theft activity  Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias  All other duties based on business needs The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Field Investigator. But there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:  4 year degree or equivalent experience  3+ years of retail assets protection/loss prevention or criminal justice experience  Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position  Experience and knowledge with internal and external theft investigations tactics and apprehending subjects  Strong interpersonal skills  Proven execution skills and ability to drive change  Operate in an ambiguous and rapidly changing work environment  Quickly adapt to changing priorities and tasks  Work in high intensity situations with composure and ease  Solution-based mindset with desire to uncover business gaps and solve problems  Outstanding written and verbal communication skills  Build strong working relationships with key partners We are an awesome place to work and care about our teams, so we want to make sure we are clear on a few more basics that we expect:  Experience preventing and/or addressing organized retail crime  Experience interviewing theft subjects  Working knowledge of CCTV/DVR equipment and systems  Must be able to travel within market area This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as 'Flex for Your Day') work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
