Description:
• This job schedules all patients for procedures based on the modality, department, length of test, and day of week.
• Obtains and verifies accurate identification and demographical data for the patient’s permanent medical record, and assist in accurate reimbursement.
• Recognizes and maintains the confidentiality of all patient information, pre-registers all scheduled procedures, and ensures accurate billing by verification and/or authorization of all accounts.
• Also accurately enters technical terminology for each test.
• Greets all patients in to the hospital following department’s policies and procedures.
• Checks to make sure that patient has physician’s order, insurance card(s) and picture identification.
• Demonstrates respect and cooperation in all staff relationships, and a genuine willingness to prevent or resolve inter-personal conflicts.
• Responds appropriately to questions received from the client and uses communication techniques to ascertain that the client understands instructions.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population.
Requirements:
• Education Required – High School diploma or equivalent.
• Work Experience Required – 1 year related hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, hotel retail and/or customer service related position.
• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
