Videos Duties The Special Procedure RN is assigned to special procedure areas including Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, and Non-Invasive Cardiology Procedures. The nurse assesses patient needs, assists the provider, and monitors patients during procedures, including vital signs, continuous ECG and hemodynamic monitoring, identification of cardiac arrythmias, responses to medications, and titration of medications and treatments. The RN ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure. The registered nurse provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling; provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; and executing medical regimens including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized provider. The nurse’s primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community (ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses). The nurse is assigned to Endoscopy, Cath Lab and Special Procedure/ Non Invasive Cardiology Procedures EP and PCI, intervention; including Bronchoscopy, TEE, Bubble studies, UEA, Tilt Table, and Stress Echo. Care of patients undergoing procedures requiring moderate sedation and close observation for a period of time. Special Procedure areas include the Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, and Non Invasive, Endoscopy, Cardiology Procedures. Nurse will be responsible for daily equipment/ procedure room stock checks.
