Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Reference Archivist/Librarian to join our team at Harvard University’s Houghton Library. As a key member of our Archives and Special Collections team, you will provide expert reference and research services, develop online guides and tools, and participate in teaching and learning initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide reference and research consultation services, in-person and virtually, for primary source research methods
- Develop and maintain reference guides, web pages, and other tools to enhance discovery and use of collections
- Participate in teaching and learning initiatives, including classroom instruction, January-term classes, and outreach activities
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide excellent service, friendly reception, and positive research interactions for researchers of all skill levels
- Build and participate in ongoing learning and professional development relevant to position responsibilities
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in library and/or information science or equivalent education and/or experience
- Experience in providing reference and instruction in archives, manuscripts, or rare books
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective and efficient research services
- Knowledge of best practices in virtual and in-person reference in a special collections environment
