Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Transcriptionist Apprentice, Accessibility Services. As a Transcriptionist Apprentice, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality transcription services to students, faculty, and staff with disabilities, ensuring equal access to communication and learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all required training to learn how to transcribe verbal communication in real-time with specialized technology in a variety of settings
  • Provide transcription services for students, faculty, staff, administration, and visitors who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, promoting communication equity in learning and workplace environments
  • Learn about deafness, Deaf culture, and the Deaf community, and apply this knowledge to provide culturally sensitive services
  • Set up and break down transcription equipment, and relocate equipment to different locations as needed
  • Collaborate with the Accessibility Services team to ensure seamless delivery of services and support

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to type at least 65 wpm net
  • Reliable mode of transportation to travel between assignments within the service area
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and academic vocabulary
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
