Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Transcriptionist Apprentice, Accessibility Services. As a Transcriptionist Apprentice, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality transcription services to students, faculty, and staff with disabilities, ensuring equal access to communication and learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete all required training to learn how to transcribe verbal communication in real-time with specialized technology in a variety of settings
- Provide transcription services for students, faculty, staff, administration, and visitors who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, promoting communication equity in learning and workplace environments
- Learn about deafness, Deaf culture, and the Deaf community, and apply this knowledge to provide culturally sensitive services
- Set up and break down transcription equipment, and relocate equipment to different locations as needed
- Collaborate with the Accessibility Services team to ensure seamless delivery of services and support
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to type at least 65 wpm net
- Reliable mode of transportation to travel between assignments within the service area
- Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and academic vocabulary
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
