As a Phone Services Advocate, you will be the heart of our mission, responding to incoming calls from survivors, supporters, service providers, and the public. You will provide anonymous and confidential services, including emotional support, vital information, and resources to empower callers. Your work will contribute to the larger movement to end relationship abuse and create healthy, violence-free communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide advocacy services with a social justice and racial equity lens
  • Utilize critical thinking and strategic questioning skills to assess and respond to contacts
  • Collect and record required caller information into the database system
  • Maintain a basic understanding of the dynamics of intimate partner violence and healthy relationships
  • Respond with compassion and awareness to people of various diverse backgrounds and identities

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of continuous work experience in customer service, social services, call center, or related work
  • Experience with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Office 365
  • Working knowledge of intimate partner violence and healthy relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to respond with empathy and compassion to victims in crisis situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

  • Primarily remote position based in Austin, TX
  • Must have a home workspace that is confidential, secure, and free from distraction
  • Prolonged sitting or standing using a keyboard, phone, and computer
