We are seeking an experienced part-time accountant/bookkeeper with a proven track record working with NIH-funded companies. The ideal candidate will understand NIH grant compliance, federal cost principles, and both federal and California tax requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping and NIH-compliant financial reporting
• Manage timesheets, payroll allocation, and fringe benefit tracking
• Handle cost allocation, indirect cost rate application, and expense categorization
• Process PMS drawdowns and reconciliations
• Review and monitor subaward and vendor invoices
• Support FFR, RPPR, and other NIH financial report submissions
• Maintain document retention practices for audit readiness (annual audit $1M+ revenue)
• Manage federal and California tax preparation and compliance
• Provide financial forecasting and cash flow management
Qualifications:
• Direct experience with NIH-funded projects, preferably SBIR/STTR
• Strong understanding of NIH financial compliance and reporting requirements
• Familiarity with PMS, RPPR, and FFR processes
• Knowledge of federal cost principles and California state regulations
• Proficiency with accounting software (please specify in your proposal)
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
