About the position
Responsibilities
• Reviews electronic chart documentation ensuring correct patient, location, and no duplicate information.
• Processes release of information (ROI) requests.
• Manages requests for documentation and information.
• Scans and edits documents in the electronic medical record.
• Locates, logs, retrieves, files, and delivers medical records stored in various mediums and systems.
• May train and mentor co-workers.
• Analyzes documentation and tracks completion to meet regulatory requirements.
• Promotes principles of health information accuracy, transparency, currency, accessibility, relevancy, and reliability.
• Work with Microsoft Word, Excel (create, edit, save documents and spreadsheets) and Outlook (email and calendar management).
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent experience
• Must be 18 years of age OR older
• 1+ years of customer service experience within a hospital or healthcare environment
• Experience with Microsoft Office products
• Ability to work Monday, Thursday, Friday, and rotating Saturdays, from 03:00PM – 11:30PM.
• Ability to train for the first four weeks from 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday
Nice-to-haves
• 2+ years of customer service experience
• Health Information Management (HIM) experience
• Experience working within the health care Industry and with health care insurance
• Experience working in a hospital, physician’s office or medical clinic setting
• Experience working in a call center
• Experience communicating with patients & staff with various educational & socio-economic backgrounds
• A clerical or administrative support background
• RHIT or RHIA certification
• Knowledge of medical terminology
