SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking 2 Pharmacy Techs to join our Clinic and Specialty Center Community Pharmacy team. This position is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day/evening shift and every 3rd weekend.
$5000 Sign-On Bonus
A sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates. Current employees and former employees (rehired within 12 months) are not eligible. One year’s work commitment required.
Purpose of this position: Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel
• Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies
• Prepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist
• Maintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactions
• Prepares daily deposits for the cashier’s office
• Bills and credits patient medications
• Stocks inventory in Pharmacy
• Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications
• Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled
• Files prescriptions and reports
• Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion
• Enters outpatient prescriptions
• Obtains and records patient drug histories
• Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate
• Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight
• Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order
• Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed
• Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols
• Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs
• Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
• Is responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications
• Assists with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GE
Preferred Qualifications:
• Computer skills
• Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems
• Insurance and Billing Experience
• Experience working with specialty medications in a health system setting
• Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experienc

• Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State Board
• PTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee
