Project Kuiper Is An Initiative To Launch A Constellation Of Satellites Into Low Orbit To Provide Low-Latency Broadband To Underserved Communities Around The World. Kuiper Is An Ambitious Project That Relies On Completely New Satellite Designs With All The Ground-Based Capabilities Needed To Operate A Large Constellation And Provide High-Performance Services To End Users. Since The Constellation Has Several Thousand Satellites Serving Millions Of Customers, The Systems Are Designed To Be Highly Autonomous, Self-Adapting To The Environment And Able To Repair In Case Of Problems. Most New Equipment And Software Is Developed And Built Within Our Engineering And Manufacturing Teams. Guidance, Navigation, And Control (GNC) Designs The Constellation For Good Space Coverage And Security And Develops The Systems That Control And Maneuver Each Satellite As They Rise From Injection To Operational Orbits, Integrating Into The Flow Of The Constellation And Maintaining The Station About Its Neighbors. Each Spacecraft Is Ready And Able To Maneuver At Any Time To Avoid Other Satellites Or Space Debris If A Close Pass Is Imminent. The Navigation System Provides Accurate Real-Time Positioning And Supports The Prediction Of The Future Orbital Situation, Taking Into Account Planned Maneuvers And Other Effects. Guidance, Navigation, And Control Also Provide Guidance For Direct Satellite Communication Systems That Require Precise Pointing To Achieve High Performance. Main Job Duties As A Guidance, Navigation, And Control Software Engineer, You Will Develop Real-Time Embedded Software That Flies On Satellites; Ground Applications That Predict Orbital Conditions, Monitor Potential Collisions, And Optimize Maneuvers; High Precision Modeling And Simulation Software; And All Kinds Of Infrastructure Needed To Develop And Operate The System. Since The GNC Is The Heart Of The Satellite Flight System, You Are Often Called Upon To Assist With A Wide Range Of Issues That Hinder Satellite Integration And Testing, Manufacturing, And Even Flight Operations. Export Control Requirements: Subject To Applicable Export Control Laws And Regulations, Candidates Must Be United States Citizens Or US Permanent Residents. A Day In The Life This Is An Opportunity To Play An Important Role In The Design Of An Innovative Satellite System With Demanding Performance Requirements. A Large, Integrated Constellation Brings Opportunities For Advanced Capabilities That Require Research And Development. Scale Also Emphasizes Technical Excellence, So Our Tools And Methods, From Conceptualization To Production And All Phases Of Testing, Are State-Of-The-Art, As Well As Satellite And Ground Infrastructure Support. You Will Allocate Time To Work On Well-Defined SW Projects Required By The Program As Scheduled, Prototyping Design Concepts That May Or May Not Be Manufacturable, Participating In Component Level Testing And Satellite Testing, And Assisting With Flight Operations. About The Team Our Team Has Experience With Various Satellite Systems And Many Other Aerial Assets. We Have Strength In Our Mission Bank, Core Disciplines Of Guidance, Navigation, And Control, And Software Development For Flight And Other Systems. We Design, Prototype, Test, Iterate And Learn. Because GNC Is Fundamental To Safe Flight, We Tend To Drive Concepts Of Operations And A Lot Of System-Level Analysis. You'll Find The Kuiper Mission Compelling, So Our Program Has Some Of The Best Engineers In The Business. Our Daily Collaborations With Other Program Teams Provide Constant Opportunities To Discover, Learn And Grow.
