About the position
Responsibilities
• Monitors the physical and emotional health of individuals served and communicates observations through documentation.
• Provides guidance in health, medication, safety, and daily living as outlined in Individual Plans of Service (IPOS).
• Responds to monitoring system alerts and prioritizes responses to multiple alerts.
• Addresses safety concerns in-person as needed and dispatches backup support when applicable.
• Engages in real-time communication with individuals served for support and emergency help.
• Creates and submits accurate records and reports, including incidents and daily progress.
• Ensures privacy and dignity of individuals served and reports any suspected abuse or neglect.
• Encourages the use of enabling technology to achieve outcomes stated in the IPOS.
• Provides ongoing training to individuals served on supportive technologies.
• Identifies risks and behaviors that may lead to crises and intervenes effectively.
• Provides in-person support including meal preparation, cleaning, and light maintenance duties.
• Advocates for individuals served and empowers them to advocate for themselves.
• Attends meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as needed.
• Provides on-call support, including after hours, in a rotation with the supervisor.
Requirements
• High School diploma and at least one year’s experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, videoconference, and in writing.
• Proficiency in using mathematics to interpret information and solve problems.
• Ability to solve practical problems and make independent decisions.
• Proficiency with basic applications such as word processing, calendars, email, and videoconferencing.
• Proficiency with enabling technology such as smartphones, tablets, and monitoring systems.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with technology-enabled support systems for individuals with disabilities.
• Additional certifications related to direct support or caregiving.
