We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Outpatient Medical Coders to join our team at Cooper Thomas, LLC, a leading provider of medical coding services to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). As a remote part-time coder, you will have the opportunity to work from the comfort of your own home and enjoy a flexible schedule, with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform multi-specialty OP clinic, ED, minor procedures, radiology, rehabilitation, and lab encounters utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Code at a minimum of 95% accuracy and maintain a high level of productivity
- Follow site-specific coding guidelines and stay up-to-date with industry developments
- Utilize E/M leveling for OP and ED visits using 95’, 97’, and 2022 guidelines
- Proficiently use E/M calculator and 3M Encoder for ICD10 and CPT coding
Requirements:
- At least 2 years of VA or relevant coding experience, either as a VA employee or with another Government contractor supporting VA
- Active credentials as a certified coder or auditor (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC, or CPMA)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to complete work within the required TAT of 5 days from the date of assignment
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pathology and disease processes, pharmacology, health record format and content, reimbursement methodologies and conventions, rules and guidelines for current classification systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS)
