Position Description
The Senior Research Project Coordinator will provide high-level support to the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for coordinating and conducting research activities, and overseeing budget planning at the Tobacco Research Lab. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Project Management:
• Coordination and oversight of the daily activities of a large and complex research project
• Assures the integrity of study protocols and in collaboration with PI, reviews and revises research protocols based on preliminary study findings
• Oversees recruitment strategy for enrollment of human participants to meet project targets, including designing and disseminating recruitment notices, and management of student research assistants in recruitment, screening enrolment and follow-up contact where necessary
• Maintain oversight of a complex research project to ensure project milestones are on track, including coordination of scheduled lab activities, planning personnel coverage in the lab, convening and structuring team meetings, and ensuring a high-quality research lab environment. Manages study activities and schedules
• Provides the day-to-day coordination and oversight of the work of multiple student research assistants
• Responsible for the oversight and completion of regular reporting commitments, including to NIH, and maintaining IRB protocols
• Coordinating and supervising data management activities (including data entry, compiling, cleaning, securing and sharing as appropriate using a standard system such as REDCap)
• Assist with budget planning and oversight
Research:
• Conducts lab-based behavioral research with human participants and provides the day-to-day oversight of lab-based activities and protocols
• Oversees lab-based protocol that involves the assessment of the effect of emotion induction on smoking-related behavioral economic outcomes, using survey and behavioral assessment strategies. Has experience working with marginalized populations.
• Oversees the training of student research assistants
• Engages with the principal investigator and senior team members on hypothesis development, study designs, approaches to data analysis and manuscript preparation
• Conducts data analysis, using methods appropriate for clinical samples, using statistical packages such as Stata or Rand communicates formal data analyses via tables, graphs or other appropriate mechanisms
• Conducts formal literature reviews, summarize findings, and determine applicability to current study design and protocols. Contributes substantively to manuscript writing (with possibility of first authorship)
• In collaboration with PI, reviews and revises research protocols based on preliminary study findings
• Works collaboratively with PI on mechanisms to translate study findings to policy and programmatic initiatives and disseminate among stakeholders in the public health community. Collaborates with the PI in contextualizing study results in relation to past and future research. Attend and present findings at scientific meetings. Contributes to the development of new grant funding applications.
• Other related duties as assigned.
PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of September 1, 2024 with the possibility of extension. Some early morning or early evening hours may be required, as needed and in accordance with the study schedule. This is a hybrid position and this position will be based in Boston, MA. Additional detail pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process.
