As a Director, Enterprise Risk Management – Control Assessment and Governance, you’ll play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks within our business units. This is a first-line of defense Risk Management position that requires a strong and diverse skillset in relevant areas to drive success.

About the Role

  • Develop a proactive GSG risk assessment model to identify, assess, and document inherent and residual risk at a functional and aggregate level.
  • Compile thematic risk reporting to provide actionable insights to business units on current risk levels, emerging trends, and root causes.
  • Proactively identify areas of high-risk for intervention, including conducting independent quality assurance and vertical process testing.
  • Provide strategic and operational risk-specific advice to support business units with identification of risks and spotting areas where product changes or improved controls may be required.
  • Establish strong relationships as a trusted 1LOD partner, able to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and consensus, while effectively challenging risk program outputs to deliver bank and regulatory alignment.
  • Support GSG to implement and maintain an appropriate Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework and ensure risk appetite adherence in relation to RCSA implementation.
  • Champion risk management practices within the business and across the 1LOD Community of Practice.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience in identifying and assessing organizational risk and associated Enterprise-level impacts within a Tier 1 global banking organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate against different risk stripes.
  • Multi-faceted professional with the ability to drive diverse business challenges and operate effectively in both strategic and tactical capacities.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact, influence, and obtain buy-in from senior leaders across multiple business units.
  • Expertise in process governance, with a track record of establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with risk policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards.
  • Demonstrated history and ability to manage large teams, spread over geographies, and with varying backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: operational risk management, risk assessment, independent control monitoring, or risk reporting.
