Senior Research Manager – Justice & Victim Services

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Manager to lead our Justice and Victim Services research team. As a Senior Research Manager, you will have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to complex social problems. This is a remote position, offering flexibility and work-life balance, with occasional travel required (approximately 10% nationwide annually).

About the Role

The Senior Research Manager will be responsible for leading multiple projects, managing budgets, and overseeing the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data. You will also contribute to business development efforts, including writing proposals and managing grant applications. Your expertise in statistical analysis, data collection, and research design will be essential in driving project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage large, complex projects, including oversight and mentoring of junior staff
  • Oversee project budgets and adherence to project timelines and deliverables
  • Collect primary data through conducting interviews, focus groups, or surveys, and lead site visits
  • Manage databases and clean/process data using statistical analysis software such as SPSS, Stata, or SAS
  • Analyze primary and secondary data using intermediate and advanced statistical methods
  • Write proposal sections or lead proposal efforts, and contribute to writing reports, journal articles, and policy/practitioner briefs
  • Present methods and findings to clients and represent projects at select national conferences and to key stakeholders

Requirements

  • PhD in criminal justice, sociology, statistics, or related field
  • 6+ years of work experience in applied social science research, with multiple past projects related to criminal justice topics
  • Minimum 1 year of research experience supporting National Institute of Justice, Office of Research and Evaluation programs
  • US citizenship required by federal government contract

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing mid-sized projects (at least $300,000)
  • Experience or knowledge related to victim services/victimology, juvenile justice, human trafficking, corrections, and/or other criminal justice areas
  • Demonstrated mastery and work experience (outside the classroom) related to statistical analyses and software (i.e., SPSS, SAS, and Stata) with strong skills in programming/syntax
