Special Education Teacher – Michigan Online High School

Job Summary:

Join our team at Michigan Virtual Charter Academy (MVCA), a Stride K12 partner school, as a Special Education Teacher. We are committed to providing an exceptional online education experience for students with special needs. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering personalized instruction, support, and guidance to students in an online environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Provide high-quality online instruction, support, and guidance to students
  • Communicate with parents, related service staff, and other educators to ensure students receive necessary services
  • Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives
  • Make modifications and accommodations to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families and communicate regularly with students, parents, and learning coaches

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active State Special Education teaching license
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Endorsement in Special Education
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the proposed age group
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
  • Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
  • Experience with online learning platforms
