Role and Responsibilities
• Perform duties as a cashier or stock associate, and take on a leadership role when the store or assistant manager is unavailable.
• Unload delivery trucks, and process incoming shipments by opening and unpacking cartons in line with company procedures.
• Stock shelves, rotate products, and create merchandise displays to drive sales.
• Assist with planogram execution and the implementation of store promotional programs.
• Return unsold or recovered merchandise to shelves and maintain proper stock levels.
• Support customers by helping them locate products and providing excellent service.
• Maintain store cleanliness by removing trash, cleaning restrooms and stock areas, and mopping and dusting floors.
• Operate the register and scanner to complete purchases, process payments, and issue change accurately.
• Keep the register area organized, stocked with bags, and consistent with front-end merchandising plans.
• Help maintain store appearance, including setting up sidewalk displays and tidying the front area.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and organized working and shopping environment.
• Open and close the store under the supervision of the area manager when needed.
• Authorize refunds, perform overrides, complete deposits, and count drawers in the absence of store leadership.
• Monitor register cash levels, perform drawer pulls, and ensure adherence to security protocols and cashier accountability.
• Observe camera footage for unusual activity (if applicable) and provide cashiers with change as needed.
• Complete required forms and documentation accurately and on time.
Required Skills and Experience
• Basic math proficiency, including calculations with percentages.
• Understanding of proper cash handling procedures and register accountability.
• Ability to operate IBM point-of-sale systems.
• Knowledge of security, facility, and cash policies and best practices.
• Strong communication skills—both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with safety practices and the ability to interpret planograms and merchandising layouts.
• High school diploma or GED preferred, along with six months of relevant experience in a supervisory or related role.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in retail or customer service.
• Ability to lead, support, and motivate team members in a retail setting.
