The San Diego State University Research Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and organized Student Services Professional I to join our TRIO Student Support Services-Disabled Project (TRIO SSS-DS) team. This position offers a hybrid work model, combining remote work with time in our San Diego office.
About the Role:
The TRIO SSS-DS Project is a federally funded initiative that provides enhanced services to undergraduate students with disabilities who are academically at-risk. As a Student Services Professional I, you will play a critical role in coordinating academic, career, and individual support services to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to education and opportunities for success.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Academic, Career, and Individual Support Services (50%): Serve as an academic coach and provide mentoring, proactive advising, and overall support to TRIO SSS participants. Monitor academic progress, provide intervention solutions, and assist students in developing Student Success Plans to meet their academic and career goals.
- Outreach and Caseload Management (30%): Conduct outreach to TRIO-SSS participants who are not accessing project services or are on leave-of-absence. Provide intrusive, proactive outreach to students at immediate academic risk and assist the Project Director with creating and coordinating program events and activities.
- Administrative Duties (15%): Assist in the collection and analysis of data needed for the Annual Performance Report, perform various administrative duties, and input data and case notes into the TRIO projects database.
- Other Duties and Responsibilities as Assigned (5%): Perform other duties as assigned that are appropriate under the guidelines of the funded grant and this classification.
Requirements:
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field.
- One year of student services work experience or related field.
- Knowledge of TRIO-Student Support Services Project (TRIO SSS) practices, procedures, and activities.
- General knowledge of academic advising, career, financial aid, and economic literacy activities and related services for disabled eligible students.
- Ability to effectively coach students, specifically in the areas of guiding disabled eligible students with goal setting, time management, self-advocacy, and study skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year university in counseling, education, or related fields, including coursework in counseling techniques.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience working in a TRIO program or similar program for disadvantaged and at-risk college students.
