About the Role
The NiagaraFiles project is currently searching for a Systems Engineer or DevOps Engineer who will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our cloud migration efforts. As a Senior Advisor, you will be responsible for managing the migration of the NiagaraFiles application to the cloud, working closely with our current cloud software development team to document software and systems architectures, cloud architectures, policies, and procedures. Your expertise will guide the software development team in designing, building, testing, and deploying changes to existing software within the cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the migration of the NiagaraFiles application to the cloud, ensuring a seamless transition and minimal disruption to our operations.
- Collaborate with the current cloud software development team to document software and systems architectures, cloud architectures, policies, and procedures, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
- Guide the software development team in designing, building, testing, and deploying changes to existing software within the cloud environment, leveraging your expertise to optimize our cloud infrastructure.
- Work with the engineering and development teams to evaluate and determine the best cloud options, ensuring that our solutions align with our business objectives and security guidelines.
- Ensure that data processing and storage operations are done effectively and in compliance with corporate security guidelines, maintaining the trust of our customers and stakeholders.
- Interact with all stakeholders and customer product owners, providing cloud support and delivering guidance in accordance with customer needs, fostering strong relationships and driving customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with current cloud software engineers to create and maintain Architecture diagrams documenting the cloud infrastructure and system designs, ensuring that our documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience in cloud technologies. The following qualifications are essential:
Basic Qualifications:
- Twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required, demonstrating your ability to navigate complex systems and lead high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required, showcasing your expertise in managing multiple stakeholders, prioritizing tasks, and driving results.
- A Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required, providing a solid foundation in systems engineering principles and practices. Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
- An active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required, ensuring that you can access and handle sensitive information with the highest level of integrity.
- Experience and understanding of cloud technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, AWS, and other relevant platforms, demonstrating your ability to design, deploy, and manage cloud-based systems.
- Experience with systems and software architecture and the ability to translate these architectures to the AWS cloud environment, showcasing your expertise in cloud migration and optimization.
- Experience with the AWS Well-Architected Framework in building and deployment software in the AWS environment, ensuring that our solutions are secure, high-performing, and efficient.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, providing a deeper understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
- Certifications in cloud technologies, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Certified Solutions Architect, demonstrating your expertise and commitment to ongoing learning.
- Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and version control systems, such as Git, showcasing your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage complex software development projects.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide high-performing teams, and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
