Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering – Shape the Future of Engineering Education

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering to join our team at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. As a key member of our Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of engineering education and inspiring the next generation of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and related software (Ansys, Autodesk, Solidworks, Moldflow, and Moldex3D)
  • Develop and implement innovative curricula and teaching methods to enhance student learning experiences
  • Conduct research and collaborate with industry partners to solve real-world problems and advance the field of Mechanical Engineering
  • Mentor and advise students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic and professional goals
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives to promote excellence in teaching, research, and service

Requirements:

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Previous teaching experience and a strong commitment to undergraduate education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and industry partners
  • Previous industrial experience is positively considered
