We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Youth Advocate to join our Liberty Partnerships Program team at SUNY Cobleskill. As a Youth Advocate, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students in grades 6-12, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver services in academics, social and emotional development, life skills, goal setting, mentoring, leadership, and college and career readiness
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during the school day
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff
- Assist with homework and test prep, and provide tutoring as needed
- Chaperone field trips and participate in occasional evening or weekend activities
- Maintain accurate records and submit data in a timely manner
- Collaborate with program staff and school personnel to ensure seamless delivery of services
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of work experience with adolescents
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and dependability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organized and detail-oriented, with ability to maintain confidentiality
