As a Director I, you will be responsible for planning and line-directing live and taped Studio, Remote, and REMI productions, bringing your technical expertise and leadership skills to the table.

About the Role

The Director I will play a crucial role in driving the success of our productions, working closely with Coordinating Producers, Producers, and other team members to deliver high-quality content. This position requires a strong and diverse skillset, including in-depth knowledge of live directing, production equipment, and facilities. As a Director I, you will be responsible for:

  • Directing live and taped productions from the control room or mobile unit, coordinating and executing all aspects of scripted and unscripted shows
  • Providing clear, concise, and orderly communication of traffic to all involved during each production
  • Troubleshooting operational issues that arise during assigned productions, ensuring a smooth and high-quality presentation
  • Overseeing lighting, camera blocking, visual effects, and graphics integration, and timing to ensure a quality presentation
  • Participating in meetings with Managers and Producers to develop concepts, editorial themes, and specific narratives for productions
  • Coordinating with Associate Directors on pre-production elements and reviewing rundowns for accuracy
  • Managing personnel and facilities as they relate to assigned projects, interacting with other departments to achieve a common goal
  • Providing ongoing feedback to Associate Directors, Stage Managers, and other team members, documenting in written form to Management
  • Taking responsibility for personal development through independent observation and training, participating in periodic clip review sessions to further develop directing skills

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years of directing or related experience, with in-depth knowledge and proficiency in live directing
  • In-depth knowledge and proficiency with production equipment and facilities
  • Strong ability to think and react quickly to rapidly changing situations in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • In-depth ability to direct most assigned productions and specialty shows
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, communications, journalism, or a closely related field is preferred

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out as a candidate, you will ideally have:

  • Bilingual language skills (Spanish/English)
  • A Bachelor’s degree in broadcasting, communications, journalism, or a closely related field

  • A strong understanding of production equipment and facilities, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • A passion for delivering high-quality content, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence
