About the Role:

The Enterprise Data Strategy team at American Express is responsible for driving business growth and excellence in credit and fraud risk management. As a Remote Data Strategy Specialist, you will be part of the Risk Management team and will focus on developing and implementing data-driven strategies to drive business growth and reduce risk. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities to improve our data solutions and purchases, and address business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of innovative and effective strategies to drive business growth and credit and fraud risk management excellence
  • Analyze existing and new data sources to reveal opportunities to streamline our data solutions and purchases
  • Review and monitor data quality, coverage, and freshness
  • Analyze existing data to develop metrics that will deliver strong insights
  • Collaborate with new and existing data partners to identify new data opportunities and improve existing data exchange processes
  • Work closely with associates across Risk Management, Product Owners, Compliance, and Decision Science

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to work independently and across a matrixed organization to deliver solutions at maximum speed
  • Ability to manage and lead large-scale projects with multiple cross-functional partners
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to translate data and business insights into actionable recommendations
  • Strong technical skills to perform data analysis, reporting, and visualization
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, Tableau, SAS, and familiarity with big data and cloud environments
  • Experience in a financial services organization in a data or strategy capacity
  • Knowledge of credit risk or fraud risk principles, practices, or external credit or fraud risk data sources preferred
  • Graduate degree or higher required, focus in a quantitative field preferred
