Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior 2D Animator at Netflix, you will be a key creative force, responsible for crafting compelling and visually stunning 2D animations for our diverse range of content. You will work closely with Art Directors, Character Designers, and other team members to ensure the highest quality and consistency across all projects.
- Animation Excellence: Produce high-quality 2D animations for characters, environments, and visual effects (VFX) using traditional animation principles and techniques.
- Visual Storytelling: Translate storyboards and concept art into engaging and dynamic animations that enhance the narrative.
- Collaboration & Iteration: Actively participate in the visual development process, providing constructive feedback and iterating on animation designs based on feedback from the team.
- Style Consistency: Maintain a consistent visual style and quality across all animated content, adhering to established guidelines and best practices.
- Technical Proficiency: Utilize industry-standard software such as Spine to create and optimize animations for various platforms.
- Trend Awareness: Stay current with the latest trends and techniques in 2D animation, particularly within the mobile gaming and digital entertainment industries.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all animations meet Netflix’s high standards for quality, performance, and visual appeal.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Identify and proactively address animation-related challenges and find creative solutions.
- Mentorship & Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior animators, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Adaptability: Be adaptable to changing project requirements and deadlines, working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven Expertise: 3+ years of professional experience in 2D animation, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of animation styles and techniques.
- Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Spine, with experience in creating and optimizing animations for interactive media.
- Animation Fundamentals: Deep understanding of traditional animation principles, including timing, spacing, squash and stretch, and anticipation.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Time Management & Organization: Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve animation-related issues.
- Adaptability & Learning Agility: A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
- Portfolio Required: A compelling portfolio demonstrating your animation skills and experience is required.
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Illustration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with video game studios or animation production houses is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Unity, C#, and Maya rigging, including Mel scripts, Python, PyMel, or the Maya Programming Interface is a plus.
